I wanted to talk to you a little about trends in the Forex and how
it affects profitability. I will use news trading as an example
since that is my specialty.
When I say the word trend I am not referring to a trending
market, I am referring to it in the sense that bell bottom pants
and leopard print skirts have been trends. They become
popular for a while and soon fizzle out only to be reintroduced
several years later.
PHASE ONE EXPLOSIVE PROFITS
When I first began news trading it was like having a PIN
number to an ATM account with an unlimited amount of money.
Each day a news event came out I was able to make a
withdrawal.
The best thing about it was every week the Forex provided me
with several opportunities to make a withdrawal. This went on
for years.
PHASE TWO EVERYONE JOINS THE BANDWAGON
Over time I introduced more and more traders to this type of
trading and it eventually exploded into a huge trading method.
Those that got on board early were the ones that ended up
making the most money.
As more and more traders got involved it became more and
more difficult to be profitable. The more people that shared the
PIN number would prove to reduce the available funds. The
increased volume tipped the brokers off to what was happening.
They would then make it difficult to get into the market etc. to
keep from taking a loss.
For years most brokers operated much like a casino. They
would take on all the risk, so if you made money they lost
money. This fueled an increase in requotes.
PHASE THREE THE MONEY TRAIN COMES TO AN END
Once execution began to get difficult traders started moving
on. News trading for some went away. This phase is very
important as it has to happen in order for phase phase four
and five to take place.
PHASE FOUR HOW SOON WE FORGET
Once there is a large drop off in news trading people tend to
forget the profitability of the trading system; in this case
news trading. New brokers come and go and technology
changes.
Brokers that once took risk no longer do. They now pass it on
to one of several different banks and liquidity providers where it
gets absorbed.
PHASE FIVE EXPLOSIVE PROFITS REVISITED
News trading makes a comeback. This is the phase that I believe
news trading is currently in. It is the beginning of the phase but
which is great news for you. Over the past few months I have seen
a vast increase in execution as well as profitable trades to the point
that I feel as if my PIN number has been reactivated.
